You and your loved ones depend on your regular income. That’s why UConn offers voluntary short-term disability coverage to protect you financially in the event you cannot work as a result of a short-term debilitating injury or illness. There are three short-term disability options based on the number of days you have before the benefit coverage starts paying and the duration of the benefits. You must elect a package that includes both short-term and long-term disability coverage.

Plan Highlights
The short-term disability plan is only offered to employees of UConn who have elected the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP) and are members of the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA) or are management exempt.
Choose from three different Elimination Periods: After 30 days disabled, after 60 days disabled, or after 120 days disabled.
Weekly maximum benefit of up to $3,000.
